Haiti Update

AVC has been partnering with Heart to Heart in Grande Goave, Haiti for the past four years. We have worked at the H2H Orphanage and School, participated in outreach events, and have sent containers of food and supplies.
Since the devastating earthquake in January 2010, we have been raising funds for food relief. Together, H2H and AVC have raised over $420,000. So far we have been able to send 7 shipping containers of food (50,000 lb each). We have also been able to send medical supplies and tents and tarps for temporary housing. Our warehouse contains more food and supplies which will be sent over the next several months. AVC and H2H are committed to providing food for the people of Grande Goave, not just the H2H Orphanage and School.
A team of 12 people traveled to Haiti in June. Some of the team worked on rebuilding part of the Childrens Home's kitchen and dining hall. The team also worked at H2H and was involved in food distribution.
Three of H2H's churches have collapsed due to the earthquake and money is needed to reconstruct these buildings. The churches are currently meeting under large tarps and the rain and hurricane season is now upon them.
