Event - Reading of the 94 Calls to Action from the TRC

Abbotsford Vineyard has a longstanding record of activity in the Social Justice arena. Whether offering food and clothing to the disenfranchised locally, supporting at-risk families in Mexican slums, supporting the poor in Haiti, feeding transient workers in the Okanagan and more, AV has tried to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need. Handing out food and clothing is pretty straightforward, but there are some more complex issues facing us here at home.

Jim White, a survivor of the Residential School system, encourages us to educate ourselves about the issues surrounding Residential Schools and the indigenous experience in Canada. One way is to read the report created by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. It can be found here https://nctr.ca/records/reports/.

Check out Vineyard Canada's Engage Blog, dedicated to a variety of social justice issues. There are some specific posts relating to our Indigenous community.

Take some time to learn how to pray and act more effectively.

And here's an opportunity to witness a reading of the 94 Calls to Action established by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. Register by scanning the QR codes below or going to Reading at Highland Community Church.
