GRAND CENTRAL SUNDAY
Grand Central Sunday is a new exciting open session format of Sunday school for children in Kindergarten to Grade 5. Rather than meeting in classrooms on that Sunday morning, children will meet at Grand Central for a dynamic, engaging experience filled with kids worship songs, exciting games, prayer, offering, skits, object lessons and learning more about the bible.
WHAT MAKES “GRAND CENTRAL” SPECIAL?
At Grand Central, we want to encourage children to love God and live in relationship with Jesus, where he is their best friend and closer than they could ever imagine. Taking place once a month, Grand Central Sundays offer a unique perspective on worship, our relationship with God and each other, and encourages our children to grow closer to God while gaining an understanding of the Bible in a way that resonates and inspires them to live out their faith passionately.
Children will have the opportunity to earn ticket punches for their train passes, a new reward system that we are implementing. All children will be issued their very own personalized train pass and will have the chance to earn ticket punches on their train passes EVERY Sunday. Ticket punches can be redeemed at the end of every Grand Central Sunday, where the children can purchase either candy or other toys/prizes with the punches they have accumulated.
HOW DO I EARN TICKET PUNCHES?
Ticket punches can be earned each week in the following ways:
1 punch for attendance. Earn a ticket punch for attending every week, including Grand Central Sunday.
1 punch for completing the Memory Verse Challenge: Reciting the current memory verse to a classroom teacher.
1 punch for helping out: Volunteering or participating in Grand Central Sunday for worship, offering, game time or another designated task.
2 punches for completing the previous week’s “take home” paper with a parent’s signature.
5 punches for bringing a friend for the first time.
5 punches for your birthday! If it’s your birthday or your birthday month you’ll get a special birthday gift of 5 punches.
WHAT CAN I DO WITH MY TICKET PUNCHES?
Ticket punches can be redeemed for candy/toys and other prizes at the GCS trolley carts when parents pick up their children at the end of our monthly Grand Central Sunday session.
Of course, parents always have the right to limit access to the trolley cart if they do not wish for them to redeem their punches for candy or toys/prizes.
WHY DO WE VALUE THIS?
While the core values of The Station are to see children come to know God in a personal way, we also believe that children should feel that the environment is tailored to them personally. We want to create excitement in coming to Grand Central Sunday and Sunday morning classes. Positive reinforcement and rewards are one of the ways to encourage participation in learning. Our desire is for children to learn more about God, his Word, his love for them and for others. We hope that Sunday mornings at Abbotsford Vineyard are the highlight of their week!
