WORSHIP & CREATIVE ARTS 2017-09-05T21:27:16+00:00

The Vineyard movement gained prominence in the 1970’s and 1980’s in part through the expression of authentic, intimate and expressive worship, which was facilitated by passionate and gifted musicians, song- writers and worship leaders. At the Abbotsford Vineyard Church we still put a high priority on worship. We believe that fixing our eyes on Jesus, individually and corporately, in the midst of both the joys and heartbreaks of life – realigns our hearts to His goodness and hope, that worship and prayer are some of the most powerful places where the Lord renews and equips us for the things He has called us to, and that worship is a lifestyle that moves beyond our corporate gatherings and overflows into the way we live our everyday lives. As our worship is poured out to bless and honour the Father’s heart, He is delighted to reach down to bless, to heal and to set His people free. We are continually on the lookout for people who are gifted and passionate to be part of leading God’s people into his presence through worship. Because our musicians have high visibility and a high calling, we desire them to model a life of passionately pursuing God, pouring out their lives and worship to Him unreservedly (for more on this see our brochure on “Leadership at the Vineyard). As a music community we desire to reach to places of excellence in our craft, and be continually on a journey of honing our skills and giftings.

If you think this describes you, then continue reading for information about the opportunities to serve at AVC. Yes, Sunday morning worship teams may be one of the largest avenues to get involved, but it’s not just limited to Sundays! There are…

Our monthly extended prayer and worship gatherings take place on the fourth Tuesday of every month. We strongly encourage those who wish to get involved with worship to come out to these smaller gatherings, devoted to seeking and loving God through worship and prayer.

Our youth groups, home groups, men’s & women’s groups and missions teams employ worship leaders to facilitate worship at their gatherings.

In recent history, music has been the main medium that the church has expressed itself in worship. But throughout history God has delighted in the variety of other artful expressions with which we honour him such as sculpture, painting, drama and poetry. At the Abbotsford Vineyard Church (AVC) we are fostering a creative community that encourages artists who work in many different mediums to actively participate with their art during our times of worship.

Calling all digital designers, film makers, video editors, graphic artists! As people become increasingly visual we continually seek to employ multimedia in our worship services. Can you visualize inspiring images and videos being interwoven during the times of music and message on a Sunday? Perhaps you have experience or a passion in film, or acting or production or set design, or can actually create your own multimedia short films. If so, then this is the place for you to plug in!

Movement and dance are biblical expressions of our worship to God -our response to His spirit drawing us to Him. We have vision to see future dance groups raised up from within the church, to minister during worship services, and special seasonal productions. Please let us know if you have dance experience and love to express your worship in this creative way. Also, let us know if you don’t have any experience, but have a desire to express your worship in this way! We have run intro to worship dance classes and will have opportunities to do that again as well.

One of the joys of being a “set up tear down” church and meeting in a school gym is that we have the ability to incorporate a different inspiring and creative environment any Sunday! Every few weeks, we have designated Creative Sundays. Weather this means hanging chandeliers and setting out candles, or organizing a group of painters, or draping fabric and incorporating coloured lights. We need dreamers and facilitators, to form the “Creative Team” who will plan and implement creative Sundays. An eye for design and a desire to see unique expressions of worship are a perfect combination for a Creative Team member.
